Project Background

Customer Requirements:
The church was built in the 19th century and started a modernization project in 2024, aiming to enhance the sense of participation in religious ceremonies and the inclusiveness of community activities through technological means. The church hopes to install a large flat spliced LED display behind the main altar without destroying the original architectural aesthetics, which will be used to display worship lyrics, Bible verses, international worship live broadcasts and community activity information to meet the diverse religious and cultural needs.

Project Challenge:
  • Architectural Compatibility: It needs to be installed seamlessly and evenly on the stone curved wall without damaging the historical building structure;
  • Optical Comfort: The screen brightness and color temperature need to adapt to the dark environment of the church to avoid strong light interfering with the meditation of believers;
  • Content Adaptability: It needs to support real-time switching of multi-language religious texts (Latin/English/German) and high-definition live broadcast signals;
  • Quick Maintenance Requirements: The church holds more than 10 events per week, and the equipment needs to support modular quick maintenance.

Solution

1

Customized Product Selection:

  • Adopt indoor COB splicing screen (P1.2mm), ultra-thin box fits the curvature of the stone wall;
  • Low brightness and high gray technology (500-800nits adjustable) matches the natural lighting environment of the church;
  • Front maintenance design, no back channel required, saving space.
2

Optical Scene Optimization:

  • Loaded with intelligent light sensing system, linked with ambient light sensor to automatically adjust brightness;
  • Customized 4500K warm white temperature mode, close to the candlelight atmosphere of church;
  • Add matte coating on the surface to eliminate reflection interference.
3

System Integration Deployment:

  • Adopt distributed processors to support simultaneous input of 4 signal sources (camera/computer/streaming media/backup);
  • Deploy redundant power supply system (N+1 backup) to ensure zero power outage risk during worship ceremony;
  • All cables are embedded in the wall to preserve the original appearance of the building.
4

Installation Process Innovation:

  • Analyze the solution → customize the mounting bracket → pre-assemble the partition blocks → install in 72 hours;
  • Use dust-free equipment throughout the installation process to protect the interior of the church.

Project Outcomes

  • Built a seamless 8m×4.5m flat screen (32 boxes spliced together), with pixel consistency >99.3%;
  • Screen energy consumption during the ceremony is <3.2kW/h, and power consumption is reduced by 40% in energy-saving mode;
  • Supports stable operation of 14 events per week, with a failure rate of <0.1%;
  • The believers' satisfaction survey shows that 97% agree that the screen improves the worship experience.

Project Highlights:

  • Faith-Friendly Design: Exclusive "worship mode" automatically hides the operating interface elements;
  • Ultimate Reliability: 12 months of continuous operation with zero pixel failure;
  • Cultural Inclusiveness: Multi-language typesetting engine intelligently adapts to complex religious texts;
  • Silent Operation: Ambient noise <28dB, no interference with the prayer environment.

Project Summary

This project successfully built a display system that is deeply compatible with religious scenes through a customized COB splicing screen solution while protecting the architectural aesthetics of a historical church in Europe. The solution overcomes technical difficulties such as curved wall installation, low-brightness high-gray display, and multi-language real-time switching, and achieves the harmonious coexistence of modern technology and sacred space with invisible integrated design thinking. After the project was put into use, it not only became a digital hub for the church to carry out diversified religious activities, but also won high recognition from the cultural relics protection department with its zero-destructive transformation.
